After I announced that I would no longer run the Ravishment Academy after October 4 due to a lack of interest of the community in the forum, @RapeU has decided to take over from me.
At this point, I have made him an admin of the forum and have gifted him the ravishmentacademy.com domain that he is now the owner of. Currently, the forum is still hosted on my Abelohost account, but once @RapeU has booked his own hosting plan, we will transition all data from my account to his. Once this is done, ownership over the forum will have transitioned to @RapeU completely.
Until October 4, I'm willing to help him figure things out and I will also see the organization of the Rashomon's Legacy contest and Used and Abused tournament through to the end.
I would also like to remind our authors that I have always offered to retrieve lost stories from RavishU for them. So if you published a story on RavishU and lost it because you had no backup of it, feel free to contact me. I can try to look up your lost story for you and send it to you if I find it. This will likely be your last chance to retrieve your lost stories as I will soon be gone.
edit: The offer to look up stories is only valid for authors who lost a story, not readers missing their favorite story. Don't contact me with a request to look up a story for you, especially not if you're a lurker who has contributed nothing to the community.
What will happen next?
Once @RapeU has booked his own web hosting plan, we will put the forum for a day or two in a maintenance mode of sorts. We will then move the data over to his account. Hopefully, this will be done within a few hours. However, we're are both doing something like that for the first time, so it might take us longer. I can't make any promises here that this will not take us a couple of days in case we run into problems, and can only ask you to be patient with us. We will of course announce the scheduled day for the transition a bit in advance.
Personally, I will withdraw myself from the forum more and more as we get closer to October 4 and will let @RapeU handle things like moderation, organizing new contests or providing support for users. You will likely see me finishing Record Chaser and maybe write a story for the Rashomon contest, but after that I will at best visit the forum occasionally. I will neither continue as an admin nor as moderator on the forum, so please don't contact me with any issues you might have after I'm no longer an admin.
@RapeU will assemble a new team of moderators/admins. @Vela Nanashi will remain the only one from the current team still helping out the forum.
Finally, I have deleted the previous two announcements to avoid confusing (new) users like in this thread. The forum will continue existing after October 4 for as long as @RapeU wants it to, it's not going to shut down on October 4.
The stories from the Used and Abused tournament have been moved to the Public Stories board.

You're very welcome.
Very unlikely. The most recent reception of Record Chaser chapter 8 which generated absolutely massive views but close to 0 engagement with the story was most likely the final nail in the coffin on that for me.

Re: The Future of the Ravishment Academy
Hi Claire.
Lurker here so I guess I am one of the main reasons for you backing out of what you have created and worked on these past few months. I do sometimes upvote but quite often I do just like to read stories from time to time. I think my main reason I don't comment is I'm just not that comfortable with it. I do the same with Reddit and other social media so it's not limited to just this forum.
I am not sure if it's because old text based forums are just not as popular as they once were, the only time I was active in a forum was when I played RuneScape for a clan many years ago.
I don't want to give too much away about me but I am just extremely worried about getting doxxed. I will say I am from a country where they have implemented rules regarding adult content requiring ID and thankfully this forum hasn't complied as it is relatively small compared other adult websites. The governments reasoning is to protect minors but it is frankly just a method for them to censor and spy on people. I believe Wikipedia is also going to be subject to these new laws. This is probably my main concern but like I said before it's just how I've always been as a person online.
I would like to say however I think you are being too harsh on yourself. Look what you've done over the last few months. You honestly should be proud. You've spent your own time and money to try create a community, the progress just from my perspective is you've done a really good job. It's not where you wanted it to be for you to continue investing your time but you really just comnehd yourself nonetheless.
Thank you Claire!

Re: The Future of the Ravishment Academy
I would not want to collect ids of people, but I did have an idea to allow age checks in an anonymous way, namely to sell cards with a code in them in a store where they could do the id check, then email providers or browsers would have a thing added to them where you could insert that code and make the email or browser marked as adult, then registering on sites would be able to query the email provider or browser for adult nature, no exact age, just adult or no, and no identifying information other than that.
Of course that is not actually what that law is for, they want ids so they can go after people who say the wrong thing online, and to chill free speech.

@Sever In case you wanted to hide the country you are from: I think the description of that new law you give basically gives it away for anybody in the know. So you might want to edit your post if that's the case. If you do, I will also remove this part of my post here, don't worry.
I understand your fear of getting doxxed. I can tell you that the admins on the forum can see your IP address. That's a default feature of phpBB. So you might want to use a VPN in case that bothers you. Other than that, the only information about you available to anybody here is what you decide to share publicly. Well, I guess I can also look up your e-nail address which normal users can't, but that's it.

You and @LtBroccoli will become moderators once the transition is complete, or possibly sooner depending on how things go on my end. I'm pretty busy teaching multiple different classes and have my son in and out of the hospital constantly, so that's essentially what's slowing the process down.

Thank You @Claire for ALL the work you've done to get RA to where it's at. It is unfortunate and sad that you won't be continuing with involvement in the forum. I hope that down the road you may reconsider. As for retrieving stories from the old RU database, I do have a couple I'd like to get back if I could.
Take care!

Re: The Future of the Ravishment Academy
I can only reiterate what I told you in the past. Tell me in a PM which stories you would like me to look up, and I will do it. I could theoretically save all your stories and I have done that for authors before, but I know that you didn't lose them all. I would really like to avoid looking up stories you have copies of anyway. And saving as many stories as you published on RavishU would take me a few hours if I had to save them all. So, just send me a PM with the stories you lost and I'll look those up for you, I promise, but I really need that PM.Vile8r wrote: Tue Aug 26, 2025 1:54 am Thank You @Claire for ALL the work you've done to get RA to where it's at.
