The cBB Reactions extension adds the possibility for users to react to posts from a set of predefined emojis to the base phpBB forum software. Just click on the smiley at the bottom right of each post and a menu with the set of reactions should open up that lets you choose a reaction for a post.
These reactions are specifically chosen to fit story feedback, rather than general forum posts. And the reactions we are starting with are all taken from the widely known Twemojis, known from Twitter and also used by Discord. That makes them free to use, familiar to a lot of people but admittedly also a bit boring.
If you would like to see other reactions, feel free to suggest one. Maybe you feel inclined to design some emojis yourself for the forum? Let us know, we would love to have some custom reactions for the forum!
If you want to suggest another emoji, there are just a few restrictions:
- Don't suggest a reaction that just expresses "I like this." We have the reputation system for this and don't want to undermine its purpose to measure the popularity of stories by adding another simple Like-reaction.
- Limit yourself to positive or neutral reactions. So no vomiting or angry emojis etc. Some of the emojis we chose might be ambiguous in some instances like the Crying-emoji, but we don't want any reactions that are just flat out negative. Reactions should not be a tool to bully other users.
