Ravished in a Flash - Quarter-Final

Post by Claire »

The Quarter-Final of Ravished in a Flash has begun! Meet our glorious contestants!

Quarter-Final 1

@Ink Splotter VS. Nobody
Theme: Brotherhood

Image
Ink Splotter

Sadly, the Ink Splotter had no one to compete against in the first Quarter-Final match and thus advances to the Semi-Final by default. But she's itching to make good use of her overflowing typewriter against whoever joins her in the Semi-Final!

Quarter-Final 2
Theme: One more time

Competing Stories:
Image
Paranoid Parrot

The Paranoid Parrot will be a difficult opponent for anybody because the number of scenarios he has imagined and prepared for that could bring his downfall is immeasurable. Did his opponent come up with the one thing he didn't think of?

Image
Spiderman

When he's not fighting crime... he writes erotic fiction? Fair enough. What can the man beneath the iconic mask do against a parrot that has seen it all before? Obsessive paranoia vs. our beloved hero's spidey senses, which will prevail?

Quarter-Final 3
Theme: Good guys finish last

Competing Stories:

Image
Flash-tastic

This nerdy girl is way too deep into The Flash. When she heard of a Flash Fiction Tournament, she must have thought that this is just the place for her. Don't count her out, let's see what she can come up with.

Image
Lonely Llama

Being alone gives you a lot of time to think and plan. Has this lonely llama come up with something profound while it contemplated its miserable life? Will its pain be a source of inspiration for something great?

Quarter-Final 4
Theme: Infinity

Competing Stories:

Image
Joker

After his latest escape from the Arkham Asylum he needed a new cover identity and it just so happened that one very special job was up for grabs. Do you dare to encourage his disturbed mind by voting for him? Or do you fear what he might do to you if you don't vote for him?

Image
Traumatized Teddy

He has seen the abyss. And it is said that if you stare into the abyss, this traumatized teddy stares back into you! Will his infinite pain fuel his creativity or will his match against the Joker turn out to be just one more tragedy in his sad life?

@Shocker, @Nickamano, @LaLia, @darklord, @Blue, @LtBroccoli

I've decided to pin the contest stories to the top of the public stories board. I did not want them to get buried below the other stories while voting was still going on. I hoped that comments would keep them the center of attention for a while, but I guess most contestants are worried about giving away their identity (which I get, commenting on my own story to maintain anonymity was not easy) and non contestants barely comment at all.

I've been thinking about that too, which is why I haven't commented yet.

Just to clarify: The quarterfinals end Wednesday, April 30, at midnight MEZ, and by what date do the entries for the semifinals have to be posted?

4 days later. The rhythm is 4 days of writing, 3 days of voting so that each round takes exactly one week. So you have until the end of Sunday (CEST) to write your story and, since you can look up what your next theme would be in case you win, you could start writing before voting for the quarter-final ends.

So the rhythm is:
  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday is for Voting
  • Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday is for Writing

Okay, then I had misunderstood it. That's enough time.

Voting for the Quarter-Final is over!

In QF-2 we have a clear winner with a 5 to 2 score. @Spiderman's spidey senses prevail over @Paranoid Parrot's paranoia, thus eliminating... me, @Claire, in the process! @Spiderman advances to the Semi-Final where he will face off against @Ink Splotter! The theme (not title!) for their round will be "That day dad went to get milk...".

In QF-3 we also have a clear winner with a score of 9 to 5. @Lonely Llama drowns the Flash fangirl @Flash-tastic in his loneliness, eliminating in the process... @Blue! @Lonely Llama advances to the second Semi-Final where he might have to deal with the most challenging theme of the entire contest, Innocence gained.

QF-4 turned out to be our closest match with a score of 8 to 6. @Traumatized Teddy drags @Joker into the abyss of his trauma, eliminating in the process... @darklord! @Traumatized Teddy advances to the second Semi-Final where he too will try to regain his Innocence.

I would like to express my thanks to the contestants that leave this tournament after this round. Let's treat their contributions to the contest with respect despite them losing this round! The remaining four contestants do now have four days to write their story for the semi-final. The procedure is the same as for the quarter-final.
