June Monthly Update

Summer is officially here, and June is shaping up to be a busy month on the forum. We've got contests wrapping up, a Season Pass finale on the horizon, and a brand-new season about to begin.

Server Update

The server issues that affected the forum last month are completely resolved. Thank you to everyone for your patience while those problems were investigated and fixed. The site has been running smoothly, and we hope the worst of those technical headaches are now behind us.

As always, if you encounter any unusual errors or problems, please let us know and include a screenshot whenever possible.

May/June Community Contest

The May/June Community Contest is entering its final stretch. With a little over a day remaining, we have a healthy nine entries competing for the top spot. Good luck to all participants!

As a reminder, members can continue rating stories even after a contest has ended. It's completely understandable if you chose not to rate while you were actively competing, but once the contest is over, please consider going back and rating the entries you read. Ratings help recognize authors for their hard work.

Season Pass Finale

The current Season Pass season is almost at an end. Our final challenge will be a medium-length story written entirely in second-person point of view.

Whether you love second-person narration or have never attempted it before, this is a great opportunity to experiment with a storytelling style that is rarely used but can be incredibly effective when done well.

What Is Season Pass?

Season Pass is a series of contests where, with the exception of the Flash Fiction Tournament, everyone is given the themes and contest rules ahead of time. This allows authors to prepare stories well in advance.

The top five participants of each contest receive Season Pass points, which are updated throughout the season. To account for real life getting in the way, each participant's final score is based only on their five best results. Missing a contest will not necessarily prevent you from winning the season if your other performances are strong.

At the conclusion of the season, a Season Pass Champion will be crowned!

A New Season Begins in July

No sooner will one season end than another will begin.

July kicks off a brand-new Season Pass with the Flash of Desire Flash Fiction Tournament. If you've ever wanted to test your ability to tell a complete story with a very limited word count, this is your chance.

As always, participants will compete under pen names, allowing stories to stand on their own merits and keeping the focus on the writing itself.

Whether you're a veteran competitor or thinking about entering your first contest, we hope you'll join us for another season of creativity, friendly competition, and great stories.
