The end of kristensboard.com and ravishU.com one year later

Post by Claire »

Exactly one year ago on February 11 2025 Kristen's Board (kristensboard.com) and RavishU (ravishu.com) were shut down by their host for "hosting illegal content" according to the host. I don't want to go into the details of what happened because I would not have anything new to say that I didn't already explain in the What happened to RavishU?-thread. But I would like to take the one year anniversary of our predecessors downfall to honor them and try to reconstruct our community's history. And I would like especially the veterans of our community to help me with that. :)

The RavishU Memorial Contest

When the forum launched in April last year its very first contest was the RavishU Memorial Contest. That contest did not only pay hommage to our spiritual predecessor, it finished the last story contest launched on RavishU. The Valentine's Day contest on RavishU was meant to be the first contest in an attempt spearheaded by @Vela Nanashi and me to awaken RavishU from its slumber. Ironically, it became its last contest and was never finished. In memory of RavishU, we carried over the theme, length requirement for stories and of course the participants and their entries to the degree that this was possible and finished the contest here.

The contest may feel very small with 3.5 entries and only 10 people who voted, but for the forum's history it was monumental. The contest thread made us findable via Google and other search engines for people who were looking for RavishU and wondering what had happened. To this day, the forum is the number one search result on Google for the RavishU-search, generating about 40 clicks for the forum each day. Other ravishu related terms like "ravishment university", "ravishu.com" or "ravishu stories" also all lead here. The contest thread, and by extension RavishU itself, has done a lot for us because without it many of you would have never found the Academy! To this day, the RavishU Memorial Contest thread is the third most viewed topic on the entire board with roughly ~12500 views.

Kristen's Board Memorial Contest

Right now we are honoring RavishU's sister forum Kristen's Board with the Kristen's Board Memorial Contest. It is of course no coincidence that this contest is scheduled to overlap with the one year anniversary of its end. We hope not only that we get plenty of great stories from our participants in the contest and that we might extend our catalogue of consensual stories a bit. We would also like it if those still looking for Kristen's Board might find us here this way. We would very much like to provide a new home for former Kristensboard.com members here as well. So far, the contest seems to get more attention from our authors than I would have expected for a contest focusing exclusively on consensual stories and I really like to see that. A big thank you to all who participate in honoring Kristen's Board even if it means stepping out of their comfort zone a little.

The History of our Community

Beyond the two sites that went offline a year ago, there are plenty of other sites that have come and gone over the years that had a similar focus on noncon erotica. I would like to use this topic to gather information from our members to ultimately write something like a comprehensive timeline of our community's history. As someone who only joined the community in October 2024 I lack a lot of information to do so. I'm grateful to anybody willing to help out. As apparently the last forum of this kind, I think it would be nice to try to preserve some of our history before it just vanishes. Even if this forum ever disappears, I would like the idea that this history thread would be saved by the waybackmachine.

Here is my current best understanding of our community's history, flawed and incomplete. I don't mind you pointing out errors and filling gaps, on the contrary, please do so!

The Kristen Archives:

I think the story begins with the Kristen Archives as part of Alt Sex Stories Text Repository, short asstr, on asstr.org. It says on the site:
This archive is based upon Kristen's collection of erotic stories. It was begun by her in 1997 and has been built on extensively since then. You will find every type of sexual situation covered in these stories; there have been no judgments made as far as subject. In the archive, you will find well over 15,000 erotic stories, plus illustrated archives, Kristen's own stories, as well as the archives of respected writers whose works have been posted to the alt.sex.stories.moderated and alt.sex.stories newsgroups.
So apparently, Kristen is (was?) a woman who gathered a collection of erotica since 1997 and published those on the internet in the late 90's or early 00's when streaming porn videos in HD was still a distant dream. The asstr page for the Kristen's Archive also mentions that the archive was always meant to be available for free. I can see how the Kristen's Archive might have been very popular back then when images and videos were eating up too much bandwidth. With no porn videos to compete with, the demand for those stories must have been huge!

The Kristen Archives were not exclusively focused on noncon stories but also didn't shy away from including them in the list.

Kristen's Board:

Kristensboard.com seems to have come out of the Kristen Archives, I suppose to give interested readers and authors a space to talk and not just read the stories. The first snapshot of the forum I can find in the waybackmachine is this one here:

https://web.archive.org/web/20071012031 ... om/forums/

It is from October 12 2007 and browsing the forum to the degree that it is possible, I was able to find topics dating back to July 2007. There is also a topic titled "We are now www.Kristensboard.com" there, suggesting that the forum might have had a different name at some point? Anyway, it seems like Kristen's Board was created some time before July 2007.

The forum used the Simple Machines Forum (SMF version 1.1 RC) back then. And from what I know, Kristensboard, RavishU and also RapeCage all used SMF until they went offline.

Kristen's Board had a designated sub board for "Non consent stories" which had the most topics and replies of the 5 story boards at the time.

From what I understand, Kristensboard heavily restricted what stories could be posted there in its later days after it got into trouble with its host, essentially limiting the stories posted there to stories between consenting adults.

RavishU:

RavishU seemed to have followed shortly after Kristensboard. The first snapshot of the forum in the waybackmachine dates back to December 13 2007:

https://web.archive.org/web/20071213011 ... om/forums/

In the backup I have of RavishU I can find story threads dating back to September 2007 and according to her Profile, Lois - the owner of RavishU - created her account on September 1 2007. So I'm assuming that to be the birth date of RavishU, meaning that the forum survived for 18.5 years roughly.

What I don't know is why RavishU was created in the first place if Kristensboard already had a prominent noncon section. I think that would be interesting to learn.

RavishU also used the SMF forum software and updated it occasionally over the years. But by the end, the version RavishU was running on was quite outdated.

RapeDesires: rapedesires.com was another prominent site in our niche. The waybackmachine has a snapshot of the forum dating back to January 12 2008.

https://web.archive.org/web/20080112115 ... sires.com/

Apparently, the forum was only a few days old at the time and the first topics in the "board information" sub board date back to January 4 2008.

In that early snapshot of the forum, rapedesires looks more like a general purpose board for rape fantasy content with less of a focus on writing. The "movies and pics" section of the forum seemed to get a lot more attention early on.

The waybackmachine seems to have created snapshots of the forum regularly until March 2013 but when I try to access those, I get thrown back to March 12 2011.

https://web.archive.org/web/20110312011 ... sires.com/

The forum looks vastly different now. The entire "movies and pics" section no longer exists and the most popular forum now are the "rape discussion" and "rape fantasy stories" sub boards (by number of topics and people "currently" viewing).

RapeDesires seems to have run on the vbulettin forum software which I never looked into deeply.

I can't date when RapeDesires went offline, but based on the snapshots the waybackmachine created I would suspect that the forum either went down some time in 2011 or 2013:

https://web.archive.org/web/20130515000 ... esires.com

RapeCage:

rapecage.com has in my perception always been the second largest site in our niche after RavishU. The waybackmachine's first snapshot of the forum dates back to October 3 2014.

https://web.archive.org/web/20141003112 ... com/forum/

The creation date of the rules-topic in the "Board Info" sub board suggests that the forum might have been created around June 23 2014.

Interestingly, in later snapshots the forum header includes this: "Old RapeDesires members WELCOME!" Did rapecage view itself as a successor to RapeDesires?

The last proper snapshot of rapecage is from June 27 2022:

https://web.archive.org/web/20220627090 ... /index.php

Some time after that the forum seems to have disappeared. Interestingly, the waybackmachine seems to have created snapshots of the forum only occasionally after 2020.

Overall, it looks like rapecage existed from 2014 to 2022, so for about 8 years.

RapeCage also used the SMF forum software.

TheBlackVan:

The first snapshot of TheBlackVan.com is from January 3 2023.

https://web.archive.org/web/20230103052 ... ckvan.com/

Sadly, the snapshots of the TBV are difficult to navigate. I suspect the reason is that TBV uses the flarum forum software which loads content dynamically similar to reddit.

We do know though that the TBV admins announced the forum's closure on January 1 2025:
ZipTiesThatBind wrote:It has been our pleasure to provide you all with a space to indulge in our particular kink for these past few years. Unfortunately, both of us admins have gone through quite a few major life changes during this time, and we’ve come to the sad realization that neither of us can give the forum the time and proper attention it takes to run the place anymore. (Source: The Black Van - Forum Closure)
I'm curious: Was TBV created in response to RapeCage disappearing? Is there a throughline from RapeDesires to RapeCage to TheBlackVan?

Other sites: I remember @RapeU talking about a site called rapeboard in the past. Is that the rapeboard.net that still exists? If so, it seems to be solely focused on rape porn videos now. Was this different in the past? What happened to make them stop hosting stories? And when?

Also, I think there was a forum called savage violation at some point? Or am I misremembering that? Does anybody know anything about that?

To me, it looks like we have two big strands of our community. One comes from the Kristen Archives, RavishU and Kristen's Board, two forums that existed for nearly 20 years. And the second seems to go from RapeDesires to RapeCage and then TheBlackVan.

Any information you might have on when exactly these sites were launched, how they relate to each other, and what the proximate cause for their closure was is much appreciated. Let's honor our past and construct a nice little timeline for our community that tracks major events. :)

I'll try to fill in some spots where I can, when I can.

IIRC Black Van was created in part because RavishU was having intermittent problems and with other sites going down, it was started as an alternative. Many members from RU went there to find a place to gather if/when RU would periodically shit the bed.

As for rapeboard, that site used to have a lot of stories. I saved some of them over the years, but that site was borderline cancer. Not so much the content, but the amount of ads and shitty code that was used. The forum and story posts were good in the mid 2010's, but by the end of the decade the forum was deprecated and next to impossible to use. There was a time for like a year where no one responded to account creation requests. Last I checked it out, the forums were pretty much wiped out and all that was left was pics and vids.

Don't forget about A.S.S.M. and their associated sites. They were the THE place for newsgroup stories and made their way to the web when newsgroups stopped being a thing, but they also have fallen to the ether.

Did we want to have a section or tag for archive stories? There's a lot of good ones that have been lost to time and exist only on flash drives or in the wayback machine now. I wouldn't mind posting some of the classics, but as long as we understand that some of these authors are gone and the appropriate accreditation goes out.

From what I gather kb was created first and then the same owner created ru, so ru is an offshoot of kb, and it had some different focuses than kb at the time, one of those was the big role play section, and ru also had a consensual section, kb used to have many sections dedicated to non con but those became visible after registration and ranking up if I recall correctly, so were not entirely visible to search engines or archivers. Kristen I am not sure was involved much or at all with kb and if involved was so only very briefly in the early days, but kb welcomed discussion of stories from ka, asstr also spawned some other forums, and there were a few other story archives now lost a few still linger out there a few (at least one) of the other asstr forums remain to this day.

Also wanted to say I was a mostly lurker on kb and ru, and when they asked for help finding stories the host did not want around I bombarded them with a huge list of stories and eventually I was made first moderator then admin to help clean up the mess to try to save the forums, sadly that happened too late to save kb and ru, even though we were doing a huge cleanup effort, and that still stings a bit. Of course many (not all) people on kb and ru were very upset at me at the time, for the cleanup and trying to save the forums, and perhaps some are still upset that I failed that. I am glad we started this new forum with sensible rules and have more active mods and admins here. Also I want to say we will reward people who help report rules violating stories here too. Probably with RCs or maybe actual rep with RCs. Though I personally hope we won't ever need to hear reports at all, but I know we will.

@LtBroccoli we are not allowed to post stories we do not own here on this forum, however we might link out to other places where authors have posted those stories themselves and it would be good to try to invite authors here is possible.

Actually TBV was started, as it became apparent, that Rapecage might be going down. Which had absolutely nothing to do with the community, but both owners had been absent for considerable time. Addie was working in the health care sector, and that was the height of covid. And RayPistonprowl, who sadly passed away a few years ago, had health issues. In that partnership Addie was the technical brains of the operation, and Ray said he just paid the bills.

When there absences grew longer and longer two of the users now going by the usernames Enchantress and Ziptiesthatbind, began building a backup which became the black van. Of those two I know that one had to deal with personal tragedy and couldn’t spend the time keeping the forum running. The other, perhaps to other unrelated issues couldn’t do it alone, so they decided to close the doors.

I've been haunting these non-con boards for quite a while. A few things I can mention, not knowing if they really fit into the narrative you are trying to create.

A few of the first sites I can recall are:

1- Lone Wolf's site - don't quite recall if he named it "Lone Wolf's Dungeon" or something close to that.
2- for story sites the first one I can recall visiting very regularly was "Rape, Pillage & Plunder", later abbreviated to rppstories.com. They were a pay site if you wanted access to all the stories, and they had a lot of them, and for the most part they were very well written. For some years it seemed that although the home page was still up the site had been abandoned. I just punched it in and it seems that new owners are operating it under the moniker "Sensual Pain.com".
3- I didn't notice any mention of "Vicious-Board.com" above. That was the site I was probably most active on, although not being a story writer myself my activity was mainly on the discussion parts of the forum. This was always pretty active. They just up and disappeared like so many others. However, I always thought they were in some way associated with "Extreme-Board.com", which was never my cup of tea and I think still exists in one form or another.
4- there are others that might come to mind as I brush the cobwebs out of my index file.

That's the problem. All of those stories were posted on sites that no longer exist, and most if not all of the authors haven't been heard from in over a decade. The only places they might exist is in the Wayback machine, and even that is a stretch. There's quite a few authors we can't get a hold of without a ouija board. For example, "The Rape and Brutalization of Diana" was originally posted over at Rapecage. Chapters 1-32 were saved and eventually posted to RU by @rexmundi , who was not the original author but a fan. I wrote Chapters 33-40 after trying to reach out to the original author for a while. I did eventually get a hold of the original sponsor for the story about a year later on TBV when we posted the whole work there, but he hasn't shown up here yet.

Ravishment University was started because of Rapeboard drama. I joined RB in 2007, so I only know a minimal amount. But essentially, 3 friends: Lois, T, and J had a fight about something. T and J remained friends with each other, but Lois was no longer friends with them. Lois gathered a few remaining friends and started RU.

There were numerous other forums started as a result of Rapeboard drama, or just because a lot of other people were doing it. I'm not sure what Lois did to make RU last as long as it did when all of the other forums died after a year or two.

One of the very best stories I ever read was written on RapeCage during a contest. It was called "The Minotaur" by BiancaBlack. Enchantress was a member there (I'm not revealing her old RC username without her consent). We became friends on RCage, and she invited me over on BVan. This was in late 2022. I only got to be on RC for one year and a half until it folded. Met @Shocker in RCage and later learned he had once been on RU.

I joined RU first in late 2019 and this was my debut in writing erotica (and writing in English for that matter). I was under the false impression RU was older than KB, but I learned it was the other way around when I joined up on KB in early 2022. Back then, I was underestimating the huge backlash against sex with minors (I'm talking 14-17, not 7-10) and had no idea the hunt for images was being extended to written fiction. I joined KB and found a long-established community there, including @Writers_Bloque. KB was still allowing stories with characters 13-17 (with a strict tag system -- there were sections for "Underage", "Incest", etc., that were only visible to members). KB kept allowing UA until they fell victim to one of these white knights who roam the Web looking for stuff to report, and going as far as signing up as members of sites they aim to destroy. This was in 2023 and KB survived, but with a new set of super-strict rules = no rape, no incest, etc. Like we all know, KB sank along with RU a year ago, because of UA content being reported to the host one time too many on RU.

Cleaning up RU of underage content was a nearly impossible task. I know because I was actively involved in it. There were 15+ years of stories buried in RU's pages. Of all the UA stories I found during my time as a "janitor", I can tell you that the vast majority were not pedophilic as per the actual definition (sexual interest for prepubescent children). Characters were usually 15-17. Most of the problematic stories I found on RU could have been easily aged up, but their authors were usually long gone. However, I was told the German section on RU was really bad at one point. My experience was strictly on the English side of the mountain.

Back when I began writing on RU in 2019 and 2020, I felt RU was alive and well. I met @Vile8r, @JustJess, @Verbal13, @Blue (fan of anal rape), @SoftGameHunter, and others I wish they'll eventually find their way here, such as Graham, Dark Lord, @Seeker (briefly here a few months ago). Whatever Lois did to keep RU running for so long did work. What I liked best was the creative freedom.

When I joined RCage, I found a forum that was amazing for the creative mindset and the high caliber of writers, a lot of whom were also on RU just like me. I feel I was late on the party.

Found some interesting snapshots in the WayBack Machine, such as...
" Congratulations to Pinkwarkitten14, our latest Story Contest winner with "Bella Voce"! Our July/August Story Contest is now underway -- sign up and enter!"

And this led me to this page featuring "Bella Voce" by @pinkwarkitten14 and an actual reply from RayPistonprowl. https://web.archive.org/web/20150707003 ... 946.0.html

I don't recall how I found most rape fantasy sites. There was one I started with, and Lois was there, under the name Emily at the time. I guess she got booted after a dispute with the site owner. I don't recall the name of the site. But she messaged me there to suggest RU, and I followed around 2007 or 2008. It was quite lively, and I was seeing signs of distress at that previous site so RU became my go to home site. I was active to about 2010 or 2011 I think before I just faded away. But in 2017 I remembered it was there and returned with a vengeance. That was also about the time I discovered RC and began actively searching for more of these sites. RC was good, and was active when RU sometimes wasn't. My first ever post on RC was a story I entered into their contest, and it won. (Doctor Heebie Jeebie's Practice, it's here if anyone is interested.)

It was around then that Lois invited me to be a mod at RU, probably because I was helping newbies with questions when other mods weren't around so she figured why not, I guess. I got my wife to join, but she made five or six posts on the Games board and decided it wasn't her thing.

The great under-18 purge of 2021 was a kick in the teeth because we couldn't do anything about it. There were no laws being broken, but the site hosts buckled under pressure from a foreign crusader org. We cleared out everything recent. I purged a good 60 or so stories of my own. And then as now, I preferred a site that stays up, so I kept an eye out for new under-18 stuff, but as HistBuff already mentioned, there were tens of thousands of old postings. And while searching for 'teen' can grab a bunch of hits at once, every other number would have to be searched individually, and checked because numbers come up in other contexts too, not to mention stories with no explicit age but an unambiguous description. After three years with no further problems, I figured what stayed buried stayed unproblematic. Once in a while someone bumped an old problem story that I had to zap. Personally, I had way more fun playing whack-a-troll, though our system here is way better in catching spammers before they even post.

Oh well. All good things must end and I weep for the social trajectory of Western Civilization, but we've got a good thing here. I wish it hadn't taken me until September to find it, but you play the cards you're dealt in life, and that's how it went. RIP RU, but eat drink and be merry (or shamed, cowed, and weeping) here.
