The RavishU Memorial Contest
When the forum launched in April last year its very first contest was the RavishU Memorial Contest. That contest did not only pay hommage to our spiritual predecessor, it finished the last story contest launched on RavishU. The Valentine's Day contest on RavishU was meant to be the first contest in an attempt spearheaded by @Vela Nanashi and me to awaken RavishU from its slumber. Ironically, it became its last contest and was never finished. In memory of RavishU, we carried over the theme, length requirement for stories and of course the participants and their entries to the degree that this was possible and finished the contest here.
The contest may feel very small with 3.5 entries and only 10 people who voted, but for the forum's history it was monumental. The contest thread made us findable via Google and other search engines for people who were looking for RavishU and wondering what had happened. To this day, the forum is the number one search result on Google for the RavishU-search, generating about 40 clicks for the forum each day. Other ravishu related terms like "ravishment university", "ravishu.com" or "ravishu stories" also all lead here. The contest thread, and by extension RavishU itself, has done a lot for us because without it many of you would have never found the Academy! To this day, the RavishU Memorial Contest thread is the third most viewed topic on the entire board with roughly ~12500 views.
Kristen's Board Memorial Contest
Right now we are honoring RavishU's sister forum Kristen's Board with the Kristen's Board Memorial Contest. It is of course no coincidence that this contest is scheduled to overlap with the one year anniversary of its end. We hope not only that we get plenty of great stories from our participants in the contest and that we might extend our catalogue of consensual stories a bit. We would also like it if those still looking for Kristen's Board might find us here this way. We would very much like to provide a new home for former Kristensboard.com members here as well. So far, the contest seems to get more attention from our authors than I would have expected for a contest focusing exclusively on consensual stories and I really like to see that. A big thank you to all who participate in honoring Kristen's Board even if it means stepping out of their comfort zone a little.
The History of our Community
Beyond the two sites that went offline a year ago, there are plenty of other sites that have come and gone over the years that had a similar focus on noncon erotica. I would like to use this topic to gather information from our members to ultimately write something like a comprehensive timeline of our community's history. As someone who only joined the community in October 2024 I lack a lot of information to do so. I'm grateful to anybody willing to help out. As apparently the last forum of this kind, I think it would be nice to try to preserve some of our history before it just vanishes. Even if this forum ever disappears, I would like the idea that this history thread would be saved by the waybackmachine.
Here is my current best understanding of our community's history, flawed and incomplete. I don't mind you pointing out errors and filling gaps, on the contrary, please do so!
The Kristen Archives:
I think the story begins with the Kristen Archives as part of Alt Sex Stories Text Repository, short asstr, on asstr.org. It says on the site:
So apparently, Kristen is (was?) a woman who gathered a collection of erotica since 1997 and published those on the internet in the late 90's or early 00's when streaming porn videos in HD was still a distant dream. The asstr page for the Kristen's Archive also mentions that the archive was always meant to be available for free. I can see how the Kristen's Archive might have been very popular back then when images and videos were eating up too much bandwidth. With no porn videos to compete with, the demand for those stories must have been huge! This archive is based upon Kristen's collection of erotic stories. It was begun by her in 1997 and has been built on extensively since then. You will find every type of sexual situation covered in these stories; there have been no judgments made as far as subject. In the archive, you will find well over 15,000 erotic stories, plus illustrated archives, Kristen's own stories, as well as the archives of respected writers whose works have been posted to the alt.sex.stories.moderated and alt.sex.stories newsgroups.
The Kristen Archives were not exclusively focused on noncon stories but also didn't shy away from including them in the list.
Kristen's Board:
Kristensboard.com seems to have come out of the Kristen Archives, I suppose to give interested readers and authors a space to talk and not just read the stories. The first snapshot of the forum I can find in the waybackmachine is this one here:
https://web.archive.org/web/20071012031 ... om/forums/
It is from October 12 2007 and browsing the forum to the degree that it is possible, I was able to find topics dating back to July 2007. There is also a topic titled "We are now www.Kristensboard.com" there, suggesting that the forum might have had a different name at some point? Anyway, it seems like Kristen's Board was created some time before July 2007.
The forum used the Simple Machines Forum (SMF version 1.1 RC) back then. And from what I know, Kristensboard, RavishU and also RapeCage all used SMF until they went offline.
Kristen's Board had a designated sub board for "Non consent stories" which had the most topics and replies of the 5 story boards at the time.
From what I understand, Kristensboard heavily restricted what stories could be posted there in its later days after it got into trouble with its host, essentially limiting the stories posted there to stories between consenting adults.
RavishU:
RavishU seemed to have followed shortly after Kristensboard. The first snapshot of the forum in the waybackmachine dates back to December 13 2007:
https://web.archive.org/web/20071213011 ... om/forums/
In the backup I have of RavishU I can find story threads dating back to September 2007 and according to her Profile, Lois - the owner of RavishU - created her account on September 1 2007. So I'm assuming that to be the birth date of RavishU, meaning that the forum survived for 18.5 years roughly.
What I don't know is why RavishU was created in the first place if Kristensboard already had a prominent noncon section. I think that would be interesting to learn.
RavishU also used the SMF forum software and updated it occasionally over the years. But by the end, the version RavishU was running on was quite outdated.
RapeDesires: rapedesires.com was another prominent site in our niche. The waybackmachine has a snapshot of the forum dating back to January 12 2008.
https://web.archive.org/web/20080112115 ... sires.com/
Apparently, the forum was only a few days old at the time and the first topics in the "board information" sub board date back to January 4 2008.
In that early snapshot of the forum, rapedesires looks more like a general purpose board for rape fantasy content with less of a focus on writing. The "movies and pics" section of the forum seemed to get a lot more attention early on.
The waybackmachine seems to have created snapshots of the forum regularly until March 2013 but when I try to access those, I get thrown back to March 12 2011.
https://web.archive.org/web/20110312011 ... sires.com/
The forum looks vastly different now. The entire "movies and pics" section no longer exists and the most popular forum now are the "rape discussion" and "rape fantasy stories" sub boards (by number of topics and people "currently" viewing).
RapeDesires seems to have run on the vbulettin forum software which I never looked into deeply.
I can't date when RapeDesires went offline, but based on the snapshots the waybackmachine created I would suspect that the forum either went down some time in 2011 or 2013:
https://web.archive.org/web/20130515000 ... esires.com
RapeCage:
rapecage.com has in my perception always been the second largest site in our niche after RavishU. The waybackmachine's first snapshot of the forum dates back to October 3 2014.
https://web.archive.org/web/20141003112 ... com/forum/
The creation date of the rules-topic in the "Board Info" sub board suggests that the forum might have been created around June 23 2014.
Interestingly, in later snapshots the forum header includes this: "Old RapeDesires members WELCOME!" Did rapecage view itself as a successor to RapeDesires?
The last proper snapshot of rapecage is from June 27 2022:
https://web.archive.org/web/20220627090 ... /index.php
Some time after that the forum seems to have disappeared. Interestingly, the waybackmachine seems to have created snapshots of the forum only occasionally after 2020.
Overall, it looks like rapecage existed from 2014 to 2022, so for about 8 years.
RapeCage also used the SMF forum software.
TheBlackVan:
The first snapshot of TheBlackVan.com is from January 3 2023.
https://web.archive.org/web/20230103052 ... ckvan.com/
Sadly, the snapshots of the TBV are difficult to navigate. I suspect the reason is that TBV uses the flarum forum software which loads content dynamically similar to reddit.
We do know though that the TBV admins announced the forum's closure on January 1 2025:
I'm curious: Was TBV created in response to RapeCage disappearing? Is there a throughline from RapeDesires to RapeCage to TheBlackVan?ZipTiesThatBind wrote:It has been our pleasure to provide you all with a space to indulge in our particular kink for these past few years. Unfortunately, both of us admins have gone through quite a few major life changes during this time, and we’ve come to the sad realization that neither of us can give the forum the time and proper attention it takes to run the place anymore. (Source: The Black Van - Forum Closure)
Other sites: I remember @RapeU talking about a site called rapeboard in the past. Is that the rapeboard.net that still exists? If so, it seems to be solely focused on rape porn videos now. Was this different in the past? What happened to make them stop hosting stories? And when?
Also, I think there was a forum called savage violation at some point? Or am I misremembering that? Does anybody know anything about that?
To me, it looks like we have two big strands of our community. One comes from the Kristen Archives, RavishU and Kristen's Board, two forums that existed for nearly 20 years. And the second seems to go from RapeDesires to RapeCage and then TheBlackVan.
Any information you might have on when exactly these sites were launched, how they relate to each other, and what the proximate cause for their closure was is much appreciated. Let's honor our past and construct a nice little timeline for our community that tracks major events.
