A clean murder

for weeks I'd been agonizing over how best to get rid of my rival. The man who was stealing my new acquaintance. The man who had managed to keep her attention away from me.

I'd noticed it because her messages were becoming less frequent. Because her posts in the forums, which had previously been clearly aimed at me, had taken on a different tone.

A new man must have entered her life. But who?

I carefully followed all the threads she posted in. Yes, there were many indications that someone else was involved, that our relationship was no longer exclusive.

Well, "relationship" might be too strong a word, since we only knew each other from the forum and numerous private messages. But we had already agreed to meet in person; it was just a matter of time. And then we wanted to try out everything that had only happened in our imagination so far. Everything that had excited us both. Thoughts about BDSM were as much a part of it as simple cuddling and waking up together on Sunday mornings.

Until suddenly, an apparent rival appeared, and her thoughts, which until then had been exclusively focused on me, took a completely new direction.

I continued to pursue her, to stalk her. Yes, I admit, I was jealous, even though I knew I didn't have exclusive rights to her. But I desperately wanted to know who HE was, the one who had also entered her life.

And one day, I had him. It was just two short sentences in a forum post, a rather unambiguous answer to a playful question she had posed to the public.

From then on, it was easy. I'm very resourceful in these matters, and it didn't take long before I knew his real name. Found his address. What and where he did for a living.

Like a detective, I tried to find out everything about him. His lifestyle, his hobbies. And I considered how I could eliminate him most cleanly. So that no trace would remain.

One day, on my way to work, I got lucky. A car drove past me, pointing me in the right direction.

From then on, it was just a short step to putting my plan into action. I needed a specific vehicle. I searched online to find out where I could get one. I found the solution.

Then the day arrived. I knew from observing him that he always went for a run on Saturday mornings. So, during the night, I broke into the vehicle I needed for my purposes. I drove it to the lonely bike and pedestrian path along the Rhine, where he would be passing by at 7:00 a.m.

I waited. The minutes stretched into hours.

I checked my watch. He should have been there by now. But still, there was no sign of him.

I was about to give up on my plan when I saw a lone jogger approaching in the distance. Was that him?

I grabbed the binoculars I had lying next to me on the seat. I peered through the lens, focusing on the runner slowly approaching me.

Yes, it was him!

Should I really do it? Murder is no small matter! But this guy had dared to interfere in OUR relationship. He had managed to ensure that HER attention was no longer solely mine.

Another brief hesitation. I looked around. Still no one in sight.

Determinedly, I turned the ignition key, started the engine, and it roared to life. I turned a few switches and then drove off, toward him.

A lone runner, a lone vehicle, coming toward him.

It worked to my advantage that the low morning sun was at my back. This allowed me to observe him closely, while he had to constantly blink to see what was approaching.

Now I could see his face, the face of my rival. Sweat trickled down his face; I could see he was breathing heavily. After all, he'd already walked several kilometers. He had no idea he was about to take his final step.

Just a few more meters. The path was wide enough for both of us. He swerved to the right just in time so I could drive past him.

A final hesitation. The ultimate, irrevocable decision to do it.

A few steps before he reached me, I jerked the steering wheel to the left. He had no chance. The heavy street sweeper ran him over, flattening him.

A truly clean murder!

Re: A Clean Murder - Kristens Board Contest

According to wordcounter.net your story is only ~750 words long. That is too short for the contest which requires a minmum of 1,000 words.

I know I'm not running this contest, but does a murder qualify as consensual?

Only if the person wants to be murdered. And even then, that's pretty risky territory.

You still have roughly a day to change the story into something consensual. The story as is doesn't meet the requirements for the contest, since the murder here isn't consensual. I will remove the title to the contest and contest tag if the story is not changed by the time the timer runs out.

Snuff isn’t among my kinks. Murder mysteries are, so let’s talk about the story. I actually did like the mental building up to and agonizing over the deed. Culminating in a one liner about the cleanliness of the murder. I think packing this into the short story format worked a bit against you.

Out of curiosity did you deliberately choose the large font size? It looked a bit strange on the phone.

@Shocker
Thanks for your feedback. And the font size was indeed much too large. I've changed it.

I originally wrote this story in another forum for a short story competition that wasn't about sex or consensual/non-consensual relationships. The ending was well-received there.
