Enjoyed both short stories, would give the edge to this one with the same qualification mentioned several times above concerning the rather abrupt ending. Still, it paints a vivid mental picture and has some historical appeal for me.

Good, I made it back to read our two finalists in time. Wow, I've written more flash in the last few weeks than at any time in my life. It's a tough one, trying to get a story in there with the smut too. Both entries this time around had a lot of front-loaded backstory, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it's always a trade off.

I'm giving more points to this one. Neither really got me off that much, and I agree that the sex here was too brief, but with so few words in play, this is the one that pulled me in faster. It was clear from the start what was going on and the set-up grabbed my attention quickly. I wanted our girl to get herself raped and her own hubris to be the reason why. I'm also a sucker for long-term imprisonment stories in our genre. So congrats.
