Corvid, here.

Post by Corvid »

Some of you might remember me from RavishU, or RapeCage, earlier; I was responsible for "Finishing School" (and the spin-off "Cassandra Files" entries), among other offerings.

(I might appreciate some guidelines, speaking of same, as to whether such a story would still be permissible; a character dies, in the course of things, but isn't killed during sex or for anyone's sexual gratification; is that considered "snuff"?)

Anyway, I haven't been terribly active, of late. A couple of medical misadventures and a screwy sleeping schedule haven't done wonders for my long-form writing and powers of concentration. But I do hope to get back to same.

Wishing the leaders of the new board all the best. I recognize these things are not easy keeping, and I hope a new community can be re-kindled, here.

@Corvid Welcome to the Academy! I think I vaguely remember your name from RavishU, but I don't think we ever talked.

Regarding your question about the rules. There is this page here that might be helpful: Rules Explained

About extreme violence and snuff it says:
Extreme violence, i.e. extreme torture, gore, splatter, snuff: This is not a ban of violence or character deaths in general. You want to write a James Bond fanfiction story and Bond shoots some henchmen on his way to save Bond girl? No problem there. You want to include a scene where somebody dies from a heart attack during sex? That is fine with us. People getting slowly tortured to death for the sexual gratification of another, with or without consent, is not allowed. As a rule of thumb: If the degree of violence you have in mind could be shown in any generic action movie you are likely fine. If the scene would belong in splatter movie, not so much.
So what you describe sounds fine to me. We do have for example a story here on the board where a man gets stabbed in the stomach and dies from his wound. What we don't want here are just stories that revel in brutality like splatter movies. So writing a story that includes characters dying is perfectly fine.

Despite the rules question: It's nice to have you here. I hope your medical "misadventures" will sort themselves out soon!
My stories: Claire's Cesspool of Sin. I'm always happy to receive a comment on my stories, even more so on an older one!

Thank you for the prompt clarification; that's good to know. I did read over the rules before I came, but somehow missed the "Rules Explained" section; I'll give it a proper perusal.

Hoping at this point the medical misadventures are at an end, or at least, can be postponed for another decade or more. Good wishes are much appreciated.

Just noticed that I wrote "Despite the rules question" and not "Besides the rules question". I didn't want that to sound like questions about the rules aren't welccome, they very much are!
