Keeping In Touch

Post by RapeU »

Hi all. I meant to include ways of staying in touch in my last announcement post, but forgot about it due to the craziness of real life.

I'm sure at some point down the road someone will try and revive this type of forum. Or maybe some other story websites exist that I or someone else doesn't know about. Either way, the biggest gripe I had about The Black Van shutting down was how the admin team told us then immediately disabled the website to the point that it was impossible to contact anyone. I didn't want to be like that. So here are a few ways we can stay in contact.

Discord

Discord appears to be the "skype" of the decade that just about everyone uses. I've created a basic server anyone can join.

The link won't ever expire, so you can copy/paste it and invite others if you want to.

Matrix

@Vela Nanashi recommends https://matrix.org/ because it is more secure and messages can be encrypted. Account creation is simple enough that I didn't have trouble. Just be sure to use the web based version, create an encryption key, and save that encryption key somewhere safe. Once you join, just send a message to @Vela Nanashi your screen name and she can invite you to one of the chats.

I will lurk on that discord for now and help people with matrix stuff, ideally we create many spaces and rooms owned by people with different interests and different admins so that we don't rely on just one person to keep the places going.

I added a hidden box to first post for a more direct way to join the space I created on matrix :) So see first post for that link.
