In an effort to keep communication going between the mod team and the community, we are going to give out updates on the forum once a month. So, here's how things are going:
Project Relaunch
At the beginning of the year, we launched a coordinated effort intended to get the forum out of a negative feedback loop. Overall, Project Relaunch has been a moderate success. Changing story contests to short stories seems to have worked. We got our first community favorite story and several popular stories over the course of project relaunch.
However, there is still room for improvement. We have updated the rating interface to make it more user friendly and disabled rating comments since making a comment on a story then making a rating comment would be redundant. We also made the buttons to rate a story and a story comment more noticeable. Hopefully this helps with the problem of underrated stories on the forum. The launch of community favorites is also incentive for people to leave feedback on stories. It's not a big ask and it helps our authors want to write more.
Due to real life and time constraints, Project Relaunch is being put on pause for now. Hopefully the community can keep the momentum going.
Rule Changes
Images and videos
3. Rules for posting images and videos
- a. NSFW images and videos can be used for writing-related purposes, for example as illustrations of a story or as concept art for the presentation of a story idea. They should not be used in contest stories, but can be included in a story after the contest is over. Artist members can create threads to post their own artwork, but topics that function as porn galleries of found images are explicitly not allowed. NSFW images can be used as avatars. #
- b. NSFW images and videos, either embedded or linked to, with the exception of avatars, must be hidden from unregistered users using the hidden BBCode. #
- c. The rules for Forbidden Content apply to images and videos as well. #
- d. Each user is individually responsible for complying with the applicable laws. In particular, each user is personally liable for complying with copyright and personal rights to an image or a video. #
- e. For images and videos depicting real people, the name of the person, the year the photo was taken, and the source must be stated. Do not post images or videos of real people unless you are certain that they are free to use, in the public domain, or you have explicit permission. #
Rule 2.b.viii has been added. It says Authors accept that their stories that violate at least one rule will be moved to the Rule Violating Stories board where they will stay until edited to be in line with the rules. Rule violating stories older than 30 days will be deleted.
The Rule Violating Stories board is a special board where you can only see your own topics (except if you're a mod or admin.) If you see this board, it means one or more of your stories violates the rules and needs to be fixed. If you see the board, but don't see any topics, let a member of the mod team know so that it can be corrected.
The Ravishment Academy Awards
We would like to at some point have a Ravishment Academy Awards. Things like story of the year, best female character, etc. Ideally, we wanted to start the nominations for this month then vote on the nominees in April to celebrate the official launch of the forum. However, real life and time constraints have put this on hold for now.
Current Story Contests
- Currently the Spin-off Contest is still in the writing phase. Authors have a chance to write a spin off story using another author character as the protagonist. Hopefully we get some creative stories from this!
- The Feb/March Community Contest is almost over! The story with the highest rating will win when the timer runs out. Read and rate* stories here.
See you in April
The next monthly update will be in April. Happy reading!
