The Dining Hall is the perfect place to take a break from your studies. Meet your fellow students or colleagues to chat about anything else the world has to offer. For the most part, any interest you want to share is fair game—just steer clear of contemporary politics.

Down to the Sea in Ships

Post by Lucius »

The romance of the ship has been with me for a long time -- my fantasy has long been captured by the ocean liners that ruled the waves a century or so ago. The cruise ships of today are their direct heirs, and I've sampled several, but that's not the same thing -- even if my sailings still pleased me to no end.

Do you like all things ship-related? My experiences are that of a passenger, but perhaps there are those who have sailed on a yacht -- or even navy or merchant marine sailors.

Turning this into a semi-Book Club thread now -- I think that passenger liners of yesteryear are a fine setting for Con stories -- there often was some hanky-panky going on, if one wasn't prone to sea sickness in the times before Dramamine. Modern love boats can be steered through porny seas too!

Certain other kinds of ships -- pirate, convict... or just a mad ship swept in a revolution, etc. -- can be great for Non-Con. There's the dark side of modern cruising too, lending itself to ravishment stories.
