Re: Ravished in a Flash - An Erotic Writing Tournament
I thought about this for a bit, but I don't know how to make this work at this stage anymore. :/ There is one contestant who is currently set for the semi-final because we were one contestant short for a full quarter-final. So theoretically, we could match you two. But they would now have to agree to this, write a story on very short notice and you would of course not be anonymous, if I were to add you as a contestant now. I'm really sorry.
I would love to see you participate in the next contest though. I love the enthusiasm!

So there is one issue for the contest I am still pondering. How are we supposed to break ties? Voting will be done via the reputation system. But what if two stories have the same score at the end of the voting period?
My suggestion would be that the story which reached that score earlier wins the match. I can see when a story was awarded its reputation so I could check which one received its last rating earlier. But I am open to any other idea for a tie breaker.

I am clearly against this suggestion, as there is too much risk of coincidence, and that can't be a factor in the first place. For example: Someone reads story 1 and rates it, then reads story 2, which they rate higher, and only then wins 1. No, that would be totally unfair.Claire wrote: Sat Apr 26, 2025 6:04 pm So there is one issue for the contest I am still pondering. How are we supposed to break ties? My suggestion in the case of a tie:
1. The story that receives a 3-rating more often wins.
2. If that still doesn't produce a result, then do the same with 2.
3. If these two comparisons still don't produce a value, then the story that receives the most overall ratings counts.
4. Views count as the final factor if factors 1, 2, and 3 didn't produce a decision.

I'd be fine with that. I'd be willing to go with almost anything that breaks a tie that is not a coin toss.LaLia wrote: Tue Apr 29, 2025 10:15 pm

I have to point out one thing though. That third rule is redundant. If rules 1 and 2 will not break the tie, then the number of overall ratings for both stories must be the same. So we would have the following ruleset for tie breaks.
1. The story that receives a 3-rating more often wins.
2. If that still doesn't produce a result, then do the same with 2.
3. Views count as the final factor if factors 1, 2, and 3 didn't produce a decision.

I will reveal the identity of the losers of the quarter-final once voting is over. That way, those that are eliminated from the tournament can comment like everybody else on the semi-final stories and all contestants can comment on the losing quarter-final stories without revealing themselves.

@LaLia very well written story, but so much for my hope that Cherry Blossom would lead to radical different stories, due to being open to more interpretations.
