skuttrusk wrote: Fri Jun 20, 2025 6:08 pm The concept is so good I'd love to see it continued. Lots of potential. Almost the hottest thing is the social acceptance of what the filmmaker is doing, nobody really feels sorry for his victims, they think it's hot and clever. Maybe he could keep going further each time. I'd enjoy reading more interviews where he describes his art and the (preferably female) interviewers lap it up.
I'm so glad you like it, and I agree it is an interesting set up for further stories. Luis Fernando is such a fun character and Tom was introduced as a possible return character, where he takes up the director on his offer and becomes one of the featured aggressors in a sequel story. I'm so happy you picked up on the meta aspect of the story where everyone treats the whole thing as a piece of art without any sympathy for the actual women who find themselves featured against their wills. In that regard, it's supposed to be like one of those shoot out scenes at a club in a John Wick movie where the patrons are totally nonplussed by it. Even the first interviewer's incredulity is quickly dissipated because he's won over by Luis Fernando's charisma and navel gazing. And if I write another, I'll keep in mind the interview segments are liked and enjoyed!

I really liked the setup for this one. The director character is pure gold in his pretentiousness. There was even a line that me laugh early on. This line here:
Tom didn't know much about early psychological theory or Richard Elfman films, but he couldn't help but like Luis Fernando.
I thought next bit of narration would tell us how much he hated the guy and then you drop this. That was funny for me, even if it was unintentional maybe.

I think you are really good at setting the scene and building up the moment until the actual rape happens. I was a bit confused though what the point was to give us all this time in Tom's head. That seemed to mo to have no payoff further down the line? I think a small throwaway line like "The owner of the place was a big fan of Luiz Fernando's work" would have gotten the point across why hey were allowed to film there.

The rape itself did very little for me, but that it is my personal preferences not aligning with what you wanted to write. But regardless of what I thought about it personally, I think it was well executed! Personally, what would have made the scene much more interesting for me, would have been to describe the rape scenes from Luis' perspective. Imagine him looking at the scene, directing it to a degree, obsessing over each detail, each moan, each camera angle, describing it all from his perspective. If you wanted to go really over the top, you could have had him orgasm himself without ever participating in the scene, without ever touching himself or even taking his pants down. That would have been an angle for the story that could have elevated the story to heights far beyond the average rape fantasy, for me at least. Imagine Christof from the Truman Show as he narrates and directs the reunion of Truman with his father but here you do it with rape scene.

Oh, and I liked that you used an overweight woman for one of the victims. You rarely see that!

Haha, glad you liked the quote about Tom. And yeah, it was meant to be low-key funny. The whole premise and framing of the story is meant to be absurd in a quasi-humorous way. That line was meant to show how much Luis Fernando could win over people fairly quickly through flattery, charisma, and pseudo-intellectualism. It would be interesting to see what would happen if he encountered someone who actually was a real intellectual—someone who studied continental philosophy or film theory in grad school—and how that person would see through his façade. The reason we focused on Tom for a while is pure sequel bait: If there's another episode, Tom could be making an appearance after having decided to become one of the men "who creates the scene." ;) So it was a little bit of pre-emptive character building. And who knows: We may get a lot more from Luis Fernando's perspective and the conductor behind the screens as he picks and chooses the angles in real time, which adds another level of voyeurism.

I like many types of women, but I have a thing for women who can be both heavier and attractive, which was the inspiration for the character!
