This story stands well on its own, excepting the mysterious mystery, of which later. :) There's a consistent tone, the 'family problems' described at the beginning are not too different from various events marking the youth of quite a few RL American serial killers etc. I like the tone of the Hunter's narration and the dialogues.
"Whaa, wh who wha no what are you doing!"

"I'm lusting for Leila"

Yes, this is good.

There's a couple of hints here, I guess.
My aunt's lawyer...what was her name...oh right Hannah said she would take care of it. There's something odd about Hannah but I don't know what it is. Maybe I'm just being paranoid.
Unfortunately, someone ripped most of the pages out. What you have just read is all that remains of the original journal.
Perhaps there should have been a few more crumbs? I think so.

Yeah, he loves alliteration and to mock his victims that way. I like it when he does it too.

Also something to keep in mind as you're reading through up to Sons of the Rose. Some things are true from a certain point of view.

This hint is a pretty fun one.

Yeah, the crumbs had to be this way for the purposes of the main storyline. What does a serial rapist do when he gets bored of his victims? He can't just let them go, and he can't just ignore them either otherwise they would die of starvation/dehydration. You'll essentially find out what generally happens to the victims in part 3.

The good news is, well good for the purposes of storytelling, there were around 40 women who were victims of The Hunter. Over time, I might write those stories from either point of view as short/medium standalone stories that compliment this one. Amber's Abduction is one of those stories. I could write a few more of them if there's enough interest.
