Tug of War

The Dining Hall is the perfect place to take a break from your studies. Meet your fellow students or colleagues to chat about anything else the world has to offer. For the most part, any interest you want to share is fair game—just steer clear of contemporary politics.

The university admission results are out. And I did not get anything about my points, just an SMS where they basicly said "Sorry. You did not make it. The supplementary admission procedure will start soon". So no matter what my mother sais, it's more then likely that did not make it into any of the three classes I aplaide for. I feel like shit. Doas anyone can recomend something so I feel less shitty about myself?

Sorry to hear that. I'd start with short-term distractions -- a couple of films that are just silly fun and/or over the top, then... doing some writing, perhaps? Then figuring out what are the options -- the first one is going for that supplementary admission thing, most likely.

I'm sorry to hear that. That's just rough. I once applied at a bunch of US universities for my Ph.D and wasn't accepted either. So I know what that's like, especially after spending so much time, money, and effort on the applications. I don't really know your situation, so I can only say: Don't take it personally.

In my experience, you won't get any profound reasons for why you weren't accepted. If it's important to you, try again, don't let it discourage you. And if you move on to something else, be proud that you tried. Don't view this as a failure or wasted time. I know that it has become a cliche at this point, but it's true that you regret the things you never even tried more than the things that didn't work out. Whatever comes next for you, you gave it a shot. That's not nothing!

Maybe you can see what you can do to learn the things they offered or the things that were on the tests you took, on your own while you wait for next go around, so you can get a higher score, or learn what you would have learned there on your own, having been to university myself I can say that a lot of things you can learn a lot more efficiently on your own and you can focus where your exact interests or needs are, sure you won't get a piece of paper saying you were a good student, but you may also save money compared to university tuition fees in some countries.

Thanks everyone. Turns out the that the SMS was just an automated massage that everyone got regardless of the results acording to my mother (she literally had a phone call with one of her friends who was in university), acording to her there is still hope, because I haven't got my points yet. But I'm not as optimistic.
Thanks everyone. Sorry if this, and the previous comment botherd anyone. Thanks for the support.

Also do look to see if you can learn about the things you need and desire on your own too, I don't exactly know what that is, but I am sure you can learn a lot on your own :) Hope job hunting goes well. Good luck.
