Re: Question about rape scenes in mainstream movies
My personal preference is ‘unwilling’ and ‘reluctant’ with some genuine stress, shock and discomfort. An absolute classic scene for me is that of jeanne tripplehorn in Basic Instinct. Feels very realistic.
I fantasise about my wife all the time. She has absolutely no idea!

Two movies that come to mind for me are:
The klansman 1974-with Lola Falana, very realistic rape scene,I'm talking its up there with Irreversible
Also the Gauntlet 1977-with Clint Eastwood and Sondra Locke, which makes me wonder about Ms.Locke ,because she played in a lot of movies where she did a rape scene.

I think Locke mainly (only?) did rape scenes in movies directed by her partner, Clint Eastwood, so it makes me wonder about him too, especially since his "good guy" character in High Plains Drifter also rapes a woman (but it's supposed to be OK because "she wanted it really.")

Oh, Locke/Eastwood... One of the messiest Hollywood break-ups ever, and that says something.skuttrusk wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 3:01 pm I think Locke mainly (only?) did rape scenes in movies directed by her partner, Clint Eastwood, so it makes me wonder about him too, especially since his "good guy" character in High Plains Drifter also rapes a woman (but it's supposed to be OK because "she wanted it really.")
That said, Sondra was excellent as a victim.

I think she filled the role always perfectly, and was never afraid to have her boobs in the picture.Lucius wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 5:56 pmOh, Locke/Eastwood... A crying shame that the director of "The Outlaw Josey Wales" decided to cut short the scene where she is being pawed and stripped by the wolf pack of bandits.

There's an almost identical abortive rape, also beginning with her top being ripped open to expose one itty bitty titty, in The Gauntlet.

Re: Question about rape scenes in mainstream movies
My then girlfriend now wife pointed out that all Clint Eastwood movies have a rape scene in them. Considering all sexual violence and not just rape, I could only point to Space Cowboys and the ones with the orangutan as counter examples. There may be others, but I'm hard pressed to recall any.skuttrusk wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 3:01 pm I think Locke mainly (only?) did rape scenes in movies directed by her partner, Clint Eastwood, so it makes me wonder about him too, especially since his "good guy" character in High Plains Drifter also rapes a woman (but it's supposed to be OK because "she wanted it really.")

Where Eagles dare. Primarily because MacLean thought of those kind of scenes, to reduce the pace and speed of the story.SoftGameHunter wrote: Mon Feb 09, 2026 7:12 pmMy then girlfriend now wife pointed out that all Clint Eastwood movies have a rape scene in them. Re: Question about rape scenes in mainstream movies
The rape scenes in the movie Straw Dogs (both the 1971 original with Susan George, and the 2011 remake starring Kate Bosworth) were good ones too.
I also watched a movie recently that had a good scene in it. It was a movie from 1986 called "At Close Range". It starred a young Sean Penn and also had Christopher Walken and Mary Stuart Masterson. There is a brief scene where Walken's character rapes Mary Stuart Masterson's character. It was hot because she was supposed to be Sean Penn's girlfriend and Walken was his dad in the movie, so it was a case of dad raping his son's girlfriend.
At the time Sean Penn was married to Madonna irl! Madonna's song "Live to Tell" was the theme song of the movie.
