I think that y'all may have misunderstood me.

At NO time did I accuse you of not delivering on your due diligence, NOR did I accuse you of neglecting to protect or invading my privacy or anyone else's.

I am simply asserting that if geolocation is going to be used again in the future, can we please be sure we use it judiciously. That's all. In my experience, people often do NOT use that power wisely.

I was just trying to reassure you that we didn't do any of this lightly. :) Personally, I'm happy if I never have to look deeper into an IP address again.

OMG, what on earth happened there?
I was a bit surprised during the "Used and abused" contest when LaLia overtook me at the very last minute—especially since our duel had already received the most votes, if I recall correctly. But I never imagined fraud was involved, even though I’ve often noticed that LaLia tends to get a lot of points in general. I used to attribute that to the fact that she’s a woman; women often get more points than men in these contests because the men want to curry favor with them ;-)

I really appreciate the offer for @shocker and me to hold the match we were cheated out of as a "friendly match"—especially since I’d love to compete against him directly and intentionally.
However, could we perhaps postpone it until the weather cools down a bit? We’re currently seeing temperatures around 40°C here in Germany, and very few people have air conditioning.
If @Shocker is up for it: how about a "friendly match" in September with the theme "hole-in-one"? That’s a topic that would have really appealed to me back then.

Best regards, and huge kudos and thanks to you for uncovering all of this. I’m sure a lot of work went into it.

@Blue all fine with me, based on recent conversations I was tempted of proposing the human target as pen name :-).

If it’s ok with you I would prefer late September or October.

@Blue I just have one additional suggestion, as much as I like “hole in one” as a prompt, how would you feel about an unknown prompt just given at the beginning of the write up? That way we don’t have to stop ourselves from thinking about ideas for the next three months.

@Shocker
Yes, the suggested time works well. And it's also good that we're choosing a different topic—one that has nothing to do with this contest.

Let the results of 2026 contests speak for themselves. Women winners get asterisks.

Ravished in a Flash 2.0 - @RapeU
Kristen's Board Memorial contest - @RapeU
February/March Community Contest - @SoftGameHunter
Spin-Off Contest - @RapeU
March/April Community Contest - @LaLia and the Socks @Vela Nanashi*
April Fool's Contest - @LtBroccoli
Party Hard! Contest - @Shocker
May/June Community Contest - @Shocker
You Contest - @Claire*

I reckon men want to curry favour with men nowadays. :monocle:

I think, we have not so many female writers in the contest, or do I go wrong?

@Lucius Thank you for calling out that sexist nonsense that casually dismisses the quality of the writing of our female authors. It's the second time that this has been said and it's important that especially the men on the board speak up when somebody suggests bullshit like that.

I think so too; however, according to this theory the 'currying-favour vote' should not be diffused among many women writers and they should prevail in damn near any contest they enter... :?
