There is a myth where Tiresias comes across two snakes mating, so he grabs a stick and hits the two, which results in him transforming into a woman. He becomes a prostitute, and years later he sees another pair of snakes mating. He hits them with a stick again, and he transforms back into a man. Then Hera and Zeus appear. Turns out they had an argument about who sex feels better for. Men or women. And they used Tiresias as their subjects. Tiresias ended up saying that women experience more pressure during sex than men, so Zeus won the argument. Hera got angry at losing, so she cursed Tiresias to be blind. Zeus felt bad about it, so he gave him the gift of prophecy and exceptional longevity.
And that's one of the versions of how Tiresias became blind.
