Problem with anonymity right now is that the reputation given to those threads will not transfer to the user account, as rep extension currently lacks such hooks. I am not sure if forum has the hooks to handle that either.

After the contest the stories can be returned to the original author. As far as I recall the forum supports that option.
Are you sure you are not having a different forum software in mind? I think I remember myBB supporting this, but I could be wrong here. If you have any idea where I could find this, please let me know.

The extension I have in mind is compatible with this. I tested this yesterday and it works just fine wth the rep system I think. But I'll test it some more and look for bugs.

Just checking my pings this evening, and, well, I've got to be honest: I want nothing to do with AI art in any way, shape or form.

There's plenty of open-source or public domain art out there to create icons from if we need such.

Sounds like a neat idea.

I don't think I'd be able to participate though. Almost all of the writing I have done starts with a scene in my head, usually from a dream, then I flesh it out from there when I'm inspired. It takes a long time, and I've only gotten to the point of publishing two of my many, many drafts.

And writing process aside... I'm not sure I'd be comfortable entering a competition, especially being pitted against one other person. I've always been weird about competing. But that's just a me-thing. Like I said, it sounds like a neat idea.

Let me throw this out here for all of those concerned that they can’t write such short fiction. My own stories tend to run to considerably longer than 1000 words, so keeping myself short and concise is the challenge. But I gave participated in multiple of those challenges, and it is fun moving outside of that normal routine. The added challenge will be the 3 days to write it. Just because a story is short, doesn’t mean it writes quicker, the refining and rephrasing to meet the word limit do take a good bit of effort. But I have great faith into all the folks here of being able to wow us.

Also I can never promise to do something when I don't have the prompts and stuff first, I at best can say I will try, and some prompts will not work especially when combined with such a low word limit :)

I'll give it a shot with a prompt. I've got a lot going on, but I could give it a go for a flash story.
