I can see that, but then again it’s not meant to be enjoyable. There is rarely a depiction of rape, that is more disturbing and distressing. I can only think of Gutterball and the endless rapes in the original I spit on your grave.modela2 wrote: Thu May 08, 2025 8:33 pm Monica Bellucci getting it in Irréversible is my favorite classic rape scene. Story has it that many women walked out of the showing at Cannes for that one, it's so unnecessarily gratuitous.

I found a (or the) Serbian film really disturbingShocker wrote: Thu May 08, 2025 8:51 pmI can see that, but then again it’s not meant to be enjoyable. It was far from being fantasy-stimulating or anything like that....well, there are scenes where I either think "that matches my fantasies", those that give me a starting point for a story, those where it gets rather disgusting and just really sick shit

@LaLia sick shot categorizes the serbian film rather well. I saw only snippets, but it turned my stomach.

Re: Question about rape scenes in mainstream movies
Yep, me too...and I'm not usually easily shocked by horror films. But this film was the most extreme thing I've ever seen.
Actually, films tend to keep things explicit, which is why I found it too much in "I Spit on Your Grave," for example. There's another good scene in the film "Caged." It's not a real rape, but a police checkpoint where the woman, standing against a tree in the middle of the street, is strip-searched / cavity search by a male police officer.

Question for the moderator team: Is it allowed to post links to scenes from mainstream films here? I have a few interesting ones to offer.

Re: Question about rape scenes in mainstream movies
An Australian movie with a good scene is Blackrock (1997) which was based on a true story and maybe can't even be discussed here as it involved the rape/murder of an underage girl. If the mods decide to, they can remove it, I guess. The movie was based on a highly controversial case from 1989. The movie, filmed in 1996, also caused a fair amount of controversy as the girl who played the rape/murder victim was also underage at the time. It featured Heath Ledger in his cinematic debut. He played the part of a boy who secretly witnesses a gangrape on a beach but tells no one to protect his friends.

I personally find The Last House on the Left much more unpleasant than either Irreversible or Gutterball or I Spit on Your Grave.

I haven‘t seen that one in its entirety, but yes it is pretty gruesome, but that’s the snuff that puts me off.Brek wrote: Sun May 11, 2025 3:59 pm I personally find The Last House on the Left much more unpleasant than either Irreversible or Gutterball or I Spit on Your Grave.

It's wholly unpleasant even before then, and totally unerotic.Shocker wrote: Sun May 11, 2025 4:37 pmI haven‘t seen that one in its entirety, but yes it is pretty gruesome, but that’s the snuff that puts me off.Brek wrote: Sun May 11, 2025 3:59 pm I personally find The Last House on the Left much more unpleasant than either Irreversible or Gutterball or I Spit on Your Grave.

Sorry, @Blue, only just saw this. Try including a mention in your post next time so that me or a mod gets a notification.Blue wrote: Sat May 10, 2025 8:03 am Question for the moderator team: Is it allowed to post links to scenes from mainstream films here? I have a few interesting ones to offer.
I see no reason why not, especially if the videos are not embedded in your post but you just link to another site. So go ahead.
